Give a warm NTASR welcome to Willow!
Willow was rescued in early January 2024 during a hoarder situation, and to our delightful surprise, she arrived with a litter of 8 puppies (onboard) - The Breakfast Bunch.
Willow is a shy and reserved girl who is still learning that not all people are scary. She takes her time to warm up to new faces, but once she feels comfortable, she's a sweetheart. Willow responds to positive reinforcement and enjoys the company of other dogs. But would do best as an only dog. She is very independent and typically keeps to herself.
Willow is about 40 lbs, 1-2 years old and has a beautiful red merle patterned coat with soulful amber brown eyes. She is a standard aussie, on the medium to smaller side height wise. Shes a wonderful medium size dog, and is spayed and fully vetted.
She's crate trained and adapts well to routines. Willow does well on a leash, but will need time and exposure before going on large adventures out of her familiar area. She has high social anxiety in new, unfamiluar places. Car rides not in a crate or kennel are still scary. She does ride well in a kennel in the car. Willow needs lots of exposure. Willow was, in her previously life, a breeding dog. Exposure to things was likely not of importance early in her life.
Willow absolutely adores outdoor time with her sister, foster mom, and furry foster family. And because of this a home with a large back yard is a MUST for her.
Willow has excellent recall in a fenced yard. Willow definately will flee if being chased or is frightened (lots of things are still very frightening for her). Because of this a tall solid fenced yard is an absolute MUST for this timid girl.
Willow is timid around men, and takes lots of time to warm up to them. She would do best in a quiet two person home or with a retired woman, with little coming and going activity. She enjoys sleeping during the day while lounging at your feet or just in her own space snoozing the day away. Willow doesn't make it a point to be a typical velcro aussie, shes VERY independent.
Willow is very fast! She loves to guard the yard, and will bark at pedistrians walking by when shes in the yard. When calling her back into the house after potty time, she will respond with immediacy and fly into the house.
If you believe you're the perfect family for this wonderful girl, don't hesitate to get your application in. Willow Reign is waiting for her forever home! 🐾
